Letter of Recommendation, March 27

God, You are my confidence. Please remind me that I am a letter of recommendation to the world, I am “Christ’s letter” recognized and read by every one not written with ink but with the Spirit of the living God (2 Co. 3:1-3). By Your grace today please help me to proclaim the “incalculable riches of the Messiah and to shed light for all about the administration of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things.” Please reveal to me Your “multi-faceted wisdom” so that I may know You better. In knowing you better, through my witness, I pray others may know You too (Eph. 3:9-10). In Christ, Amen

Only Your Name, February 19

Jesus, Your Name is the Name above every name. Oh, how I love all you’ve revealed; I reverently ponder it all day long (Ps. 119:97 MSG). I have never come on anything quite like Your extravagant generosity—Your deep, deep wisdom. Oh, the depth of the riches both of Your wisdom and Your knowledge! How unsearchable Your judgments and untraceable Your ways! (Ps. 141:3). Strengthen me, O God, according to Your Word. Please bless me with understanding. You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living (Ps. 142:5). May my lips praise only Your Name (Ps. 142:7). In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God in Control, January 27

Father, In Jesus Christ, I live and move and have my being…I am Your offspring (Acts 17:28). Help me to remember always that You are in control. You are Sovereign. I surrender to You any part of me that wants to control what only You can control. “For every house is built by someone, but [You] God [are] the Builder of everything” (Heb. 3:4). I ask You for wisdom to help me see areas of my life that are not surrendered to You so I can specifically ask You for help. Your Word says that if I lack wisdom all I have to do is ask and You give generously without finding fault (Jas. 1:5). Amen.

In Humility, January 9

God, You are merciful and forgiving; You desire truth in my inner parts. You teach me wisdom in my inmost place (Ps. 51:1 & 6).  Forgive me for the selfishness that lives inside of me.  Keep me from selfish ambition and vain conceit.  In humility, teach me to consider others better than myself.  Help me not to look only to my own interests, but also to the interests of others (Php. 2:3-4).  Please lead me to serve You in everything I do and all for the glory of God (1 Co. 10:31).  Thank You that You are faithful when I am faithless (2  Ti. 2:13).  I love You so much Jesus.  In Your Name, Amen.

Help Me to Discern, January 6

God, You reveal deep and hidden things; You know what lies in darkness, and light dwells with You (Da. 2:22).  Please help me to discern Your still small powerful voice from the seductive voice of my flesh.  Help me to recognize the Spirit of Truth when I am tempted by a spirit of falsehood  (1 Jn. 4:6). Teach me to be still and know that You are God (Ps. 46:10).  Thank You that through You I can be a better listener.  Please teach me wisdom, trust, love, and righteousness.  By Your grace, teach me the fear of the LORD because this is the beginning of knowledge (Pr. 1:7).  Oh how I love You Jesus, Amen.

At the End of My Life, Decemeber 5

Father, You give sound learning (Pr. 4:2 NIV). At the end of my life, keep me from saying, “How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned instruction.  I would not obey my teachers or listen to my instructors.”  Keep me from coming to the brink of utter ruin in the midst of the whole assembly (Pr. 5:11-14 NIV).  Help me to pay attention to Your wisdom and to listen well to Your words of insight that I may maintain discretion and my lips preserve knowledge” (Pr. 5:1-2 NIV).  Encourage me in heart and unite me in love for in Your Son, Jesus, are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col. 2:2-3 NIV).  In Jesus,’ Amen.
