He Wakens Me

The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.  He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught (Is. 50:4).

Do we hear the voice of God waking us “to listen like one being taught”?  Have we been rebellious and drawn back? (Is. 50:4-5 MSG).  Or do we get up to take instruction? The question is this: “Am I seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness?” (Mt. 6:33).  With each new beginning we find ourselves standing on the end of a spiritual plank.  How prepared are we to swim in the waters below?  Have we sought God with our whole heart in prayer, in His Word, in stillness? We must choose: will we be soaked in the fullness of God and led of the Spirit today or will we spend our day looking to the world to fill our cup with things that will only leave us emptier?  If we have awakened to hear the voice of God, we will have a word for the weary and there is great joy in this giving. “A man finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!” (Pr. 15:23).

O LORD, help me to seek You first. I want to be filled with Your Spirit. In the Mighty Name of Jesus, Amen.
